Oiran Parade in Shimomitazawa
Let’s all go to see this special Oiran Parade in Shimokitazawa on Feb 1st!
Setsubun is the day before the beginning of spring, which is the start of spring on the calendar. It is believed that "evil spirits" arise at the turning point that divides the seasons, and bean throwing and ehomaki are commonly known as customs to exorcise evil spirits. "Setsubun Obake" is a custom in which people dress up in ghost-like costumes on Setsubun to ward off evil spirits.
In the past, this custom was rooted in the town as a culture for townspeople, but in recent years, it has become a culture that only remains in the entertainment district.
This is a very special Oiran parade that take place in Geisha town but it’s going to take place in Shimokitazawa!
