Hansel and Gretel JAZZ Dance
This is designed for children but i think it will be great fun for all of us!
Hansel and his sister Gretel are abandoned in the forest by their parents, who are too poor to feed them. After a long walk, exhausted and haggard, the two children discover a very strange little house with a gingerbread roof, cake walls and white sugar windows...
(Re)discover the famous tale by the Brothers Grimm adapted into a jazz version by Julien Martineau and the Big Band inter-directions de la Ville de Nice.
Tricks, abandonments, reunions, danger... and fear in its most irrational form!... The tale and its narrator, accompanied by a "chamber big band", twist no fewer than 21 nursery rhymes arranged in the style of "jazz standards", as close as possible to the story.
A tribute to jazz from the 50s and 60s, we find "Pomme de reinette" by Charles Mingus' band, "Ne pleure pas Jeannette" under the fingers of Bill Evans, "Colchique" as John Coltrane would have made it, "Alouette" in the Brubeck style or even "Fais dodo" which would have slipped between the mythical tracks of the album "Kind of Blue", "Dans la forêt lointaine", "Promenons-nous dans les bois" ... and many others, which will accompany young and old in this story that we all think we know!
